Designing and delivering production Serverless platforms

Frazer Jamieson, Cognizant

Join me on an architect’s journey to Serverless design: I’ll be describing the advantages of Serverless systems, their design and the realities of bringing this capability into production by discussing a real world example which processes engineering data to help improve and develop vehicles, and forms part of Jaguar Land Rover’s (JLR) Connected Car programme which was introduced at the AWS Summit in London 2018 by Peter Virk of JLR.

I’ll discuss the architectural patterns of Serverless design and their benefits over traditional systems, design optimisation and include some of the non-technical challenges faced, then introduce Public – Public Cloud Integration (PPCI). I’ll end with a demonstration of PPCI in action through a newly launched full stack Serverless application utilising the “Best of the Best” the Cloud has to offer

Objective of the talk

Lessons learnt from an architect on a journey to design truly serverless platforms for global solutions. The audience will get an idea of how to convince key decision makers to move to serverless from trusted older solutions.
